Merupakan Lembaga Regulator Penerbangan Sipil di Amerika Serikat. Sebagai bagian dari Kementerian Transportasi Amerika Serikat, badan ini bertanggungjawab sebagai pengatur dan pengawas penerbangan sipil di Amerika Serikat (fungsinya mirip dengan Direktorat Jenderal Perhubungan Udara di Indonesia).
Undang-Undang Penerbangan Federal 1958 menjadi dasar hukum berdirinya lembaga ini dengan nama "Lembaga Penerbangan Federal" (Federal Aviation Agency), dan menggunakan namanya yang sekarang pada tahun 1966 ketika FAA bernaung di bawah Jawatan Pengangkutan (Kementerian Transportasi AS).
